What to Wear for Outdoor Photoshoots in the Pilbara: A Guide to Letting Your Personal Style in Photography Shine

When it comes to deciding what to wear for outdoor photoshoot sessions, especially in the rugged beauty of the Pilbara, there’s no need to overthink it. My approach to photography is rooted in an authentic photography style—no client wardrobe, no cookie-cutter looks, just you, being you.

Early on, I did offer a client wardrobe. I once had a beautiful moment with a client who said she wasn’t sure what to wear, so I sent her photos of what I had available. Her response? Something I absolutely loved and respected: “I’m going to go with this top and pants set because it’s more ME.”  she chose something she already had and it made the session authentic and real! That stuck with me.

Another time, a client picked something out ahead of time—but on the day, she arrived wearing a completely different outfit. It was thoughtful, expressive, and so her. That’s what I’m all about.

Personal style in photography matters more than trends. I want you to feel relaxed, seen, and like your true self in these moments.

When choosing what to wear, here are a few things I get my clients to think about:

• Will this work in the Pilbara environment—can it handle dust, wind, or getting a little sandy?

• What energy or mood do you want in your photos? Soft, bold, carefree?

• Does this outfit mean something to you in this stage of life? Could it become something you one day pass down?

• Try it on. Does it fit well, feel comfortable, and pair well with your partner or family’s outfits?

Just skip the neon, big logos, or busy patterns—and you're golden.

What to wear for outdoor photoshoot in Pilbara? Embrace authentic photography style and your personal style in photography. Be you, uniquely.

Part of how the photography sessions i offer are unique and personalised is because of your and what you bring to light & lens. Unique photo session styling starts with you! Trends come and go, style stays and slaaays!
