Where are you based? Can you travel to me?

I'm based in beautiful Karratha, Western Australia.

I can travel to Dampier and Hearson's Cove for photography sessions.

Clients can travel to meet me at one of these locations; however, travel to surrounding towns will incur a travel fee.

The travel fee allows me to bring my creativity and expertise to meet you.

Question 2

What time do the sessions take place?

For indoor sessions, the time is pretty flexible. I always like to suggest a morning time (around 10am) as babies/young kids are usually a bit more relaxed and happier in the mornings. But if you prefer afternoons, then hey, let’s make it an afternoon!

Outdoor sessions are another story. These take place during golden hour, which is the time of day just after sunrise or just before sunset - where the light is flattering and just generally, pretty damn magical!

The time of this changes quite a lot depending on the season, and in summer, this can make the start times either really early in the morning or much later in the evening. 
If you have really little kids I totally understand how off-putting that sounds!

I have two at home and I HATE messing with their sleep  – but I can promise you, for this one day, it is totally worth the small disruption and will make your photos extra special!

Question 3

Do you have a client wardrobe?

My goal for you on the day is to look and feel amazing in whatever you wear.

Your clothes are a representation of your style and personality.

My philosophy is all about authenticity!

The choices you can make about what to wear will make your session that little bit extra special to look back on - so no, I don't have a client wardrobe to offer.

But I'm not going to leave you hanging wondering what to wear!

I provide style guidance and an outfit guide to help your decision.

Question 4

Okay well what should we wear?

A little tip I like to give my clients is to wear outfits or pieces that, especially for the kids, you may store away and hand down once they're older!

How special and nostalgic is it when you look back at photos and think 'Hey, that dress was nice I think I still have it?'

Kind of like a keepsake box you can wear things that you may want to pass on to your grandkids one day!

So in saying that some tips are:
 • Neutrals are timeless!
 • Flowy skirts /maxi dresses or simple, classic basics matched with textured overlays (scarfs, kimonos, cardigans) photograph really beautifully. 
 • Pretty, pretty please don't wear shirts with big graphics / logos, / lettering - or mixing too many different patterns… and most importantly… please  ditch the classic matching white or black t-shirt and jeans combo
 • It’s always nice if your family can wear complimentary colours - but not matchy-matchy!  Mum, it’s great if you can pick your outfit first (take this opportunity to go out and buy yourself something you love and feel AMAZING in!) and coordinate the rest of the family around YOU.
 • Try to avoid blacks and really dark colours if you're having an in-home family or newborn session OR if you’re having a maternity session (as black  can hide your beautiful bump!)
 • For newborns, keep it simple – a plain white onesie  (which doesn’t cover their tiny little fingers and toes) paired with a beautiful swaddle or blanket. Oh, and for newborn sessions, always safe to have a couple of back up outfits – for you and bubs – just incase…
 • Consider the location where you will be having your photo session when choosing your outfit - eg. shoes and socks for a session at the beach is not going to be practical!

What should I expect during a session?

Expect to have fun with one another!

Expect to laugh, cuddle, kiss, play with one another!

Forget about telling your kids to behave themselves and cooperate, forget about trying to force them to stay still and look at the camera!

Let them explore, play, jump on the bed or in the ocean, and be silly – embrace the chaos and the crazy WITH THEM, and let's capture moments that you will look back on that will make you smile, laugh, and cry!

During the session, I might guide you into different positions, ask you to cuddle into one another, or move you into spots where the lighting is best.

I like to use funny and personalised prompts to help bring out the best sides of you all.

How do in home sessions work?

I love home sessions they are the best and most memorable!

There is something so special about capturing your family in your own cosy and unique space.

When I arrive at your home, I’ll have a quick walk through your house to find the rooms with the best natural light – we’ll generally use 2-3 rooms; often the master bedroom, living room, and sometimes a kid’s bedroom – but this really is dependent on where the best lighting is.

Please don’t feel like you need to spend days cleaning and preparing your home – it is helpful if you can de-clutter the rooms mentioned as we don’t want anything too distracting in the images.

Your house doesn’t need to look like a show home!

We can also take it outside in the backyard or front yard- wherever you think is important for you to remember.

You might have a special family tradition or a day out and you want to get memories that aren't selfies- things like these you can hire me for!

Question 7

Do you pose newborns with props?

I don’t do posed newborn sessions.

I can bring some baby blankets and wraps, and I have a few baby clothing items if you would like to consider.

I allow parents and siblings to hold the baby or have the baby placed on say a bed, and I work around to best capture their little details.

My focus is on capturing what unfolds naturally in front of me.

I recommend including any special mementos, blankets, or toys you have for your little one that are important to you and your family.

Question 8

What is a non refundable retainer?

Accepted Answer

The non-refundable retainer is a deposit you pay when you book your session.  My session fee which is the non refundable retainer is for family, newborn and maternity photography session. The amount of $350 covers my time and talent, and secures your date.

If you cancel your session for whatever reason, it can't be refunded but can be transferrable to a different session and time.

When you pay the retainer I lock your date in, in turn, this means no one else can book me for that time and I keep it free for you!

Question 9

Do you edit and photoshop the images?

Accepted Answer

All images I provide in the final gallery have been retouched and edited in line with my style and creative eye.

I individually edit each of your photos to correct colour/contrast/exposure, and I will fix minor or temporary skin blemishes and marks.

I cannot change hairstyles, remove tan lines, change the colour of your walls or just generally make things appear different than they actually are!

If you would like additional retouching, this would incur an additional hourly charge and will be outsourced to a professional re-toucher.

Question 10

When do I get my photos?

Within 3- 4 days I will share a couple of photos from your session as a sneak peek - this will sometimes go on Instagram / Facebook.

Feel free to tag yourself or share with your friends/family.

Within 3-4 weeks of your session, you will receive access to your secure online gallery.

You will be able to view all watermarked images from your session and from there you can either select the included images you wish to receive as part of your original package or upgrade to purchase the entire gallery (please note, I always strive to deliver images within 3-4 weeks, however during busy periods this may occasionally take a week or two longer).

Question 11

Can I print the photos myself?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Every single one of my photo packages includes a digital download of the images, so if you really want to order prints yourself, you can!

That said, I do like to warn my clients that not all prints are created equal.

A lot of places will print things with strange-looking colours, greenish casts, too much contrast, and just in general they won't turn out the way they are supposed to look!

I spend hours editing photos to make them look a specific way, and bad printing reverses all my hard work, which is a total bummer.

Because of this, I always recommend that you order prints through me if you want to make sure they come out perfectly.

I send everyone an online gallery with their images, and you can order prints at any time, in any size, on any paper, and they all come with a satisfaction guarantee.

Question 12

What if the weather is awful and it rains?

We are so lucky to live where 90% of the time, it's hot and sunny.

But during the wet season (November-April) there’s always a chance we’ll get a rainy forecast.

If it is raining, we will reschedule your session.

If the forecast looks wet, we can either make the call the night before or play it by ear and wait till morning.

I’ll be in contact with you in the days leading up to the session to chat about our options.

If it is just overcast and no rain, we can go ahead and get some moody vibes from your session- but we will definitely talk about what's best for all of us!

Question 13

What if me or the kids are sick and need to reschedule?

It happens to the best of us - we'll reschedule.

If you're sick or I'm sick we'll work out another session time!

However, I allow only two reschedules initiated by the client for any one job as per the contract.

This means if you need to reschedule a third time and thereafter, it will incur an admin fee of $50 each time.
